With BLISSAIR to the midnight sun
Norway is a must-see destination. Anyone who has already visited the Scandinavian country can only confirm that - and will definitely want to come back. Because the land of the fjords offers unforgettable impressions in every season.
Of course, you can fly to Oslo with BLISSAIR as your first port of call, but many of the smaller places can also be reached with our plane: Trondheim Airport, more centrally located, Bodo Airport, heading north or at the very end of the country, Kirkenes Airport.
Getting to know this grandiose nature on the long coast, the lovable residents and Norway's culinary and cultural attractions better, is possible with Hurtigruten expeditions, for example, but also on your own.
On the popular cruise ships you can learn about the life of the Vikings, the hardships they had to face and how the Sami live today. As a rule, the highlight of every tour is the North Cape, just 2100 kilometers from the geographic North Pole and thus one of the northernmost points in Europe. Of course, the obligatory photo at the Globus monument is part of it. Those who appreciate the peace and quiet can also take a trip to the island of Mageroya, which is a bird watcher's paradise, as hundreds of sea eagles, fulmars and other special bird species can be seen here.
A special place is also the Lofoten archipelago, which impresses with a varied and almost fairytale landscape. If the rest is too much for you, you can make your way to the old Hanseatic city of Bergen, where there is a lot to do not only in the historic Bryggen district.
Those who travel around this time can enjoy the midnight sun. It never gets dark north of the Arctic Circle during these months, and the mood of the light on these long days is very special. Because then the already attractive travel destinations literally appear in a completely different light. Something about the legendary Trollfjord with its narrow mouth. The entrance with a ship is spectacular: You get the impression that when you stand on the deck you can touch the steep cliffs directly with your hand.
One of the cities where it never gets dark from late May to late July is Tronso. The lively university city is located high above the Arctic Circle. Worth seeing are the Polarmuseum, the Arctic Cathedral or a trip with the Fjellheisen cable car to the top of the mountain. From here you have a wonderful view over the city, the mountains and the adjoining fjords. Tromso is also home to Europe's northernmost brewery, whose taproom is guarded by a polar bear.
If you are interested in Norwegian legends, we recommend a hike to Torghatten. The mountain, which protrudes through a prominent hole, is considered the hat of the King of Bronnoy. He plays an important role in the legend about trolls. The trolls are said to have suddenly turned to stone and become the mountains along the coast of Nordland.
