Formula 1 is finally starting again - a few facts about Monza

Since 1922, droves of Formula 1 fans have come to the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza to watch the unique traditional race

But what makes this Formula 1 location so unique?

After three months of construction, the Monza racing track was opened in July 1922 in the Royal Park. This track is one of the oldest on the Formula 1 racing calendar, along with Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps and Monaco, as it has been part of the program since 1950.

The location of the route is also impressive. It is located in the fourth largest park in Europe, which is also surrounded by a wall. This beautiful park, which is two and a half times the size of Central Park in New York and contains more than 100,000 trees, a complete deer enclosure and even three mills, extends on 688 hectares of land.

A total of nine of the ten fastest Grands Prix races actually took place in Monza. In 2003 Michael Schumacher dominated the race in a Ferrari with 247.585 km / h.

A few more fun facts: In 1971 Peter Gethin won the race ahead of Ronnie Peterson with a finish and a lead of just one hundredth of a second. The following three drivers also drove to the finish line within 61 hundredths of a second. Absolutely the closest race in history.

The Formula 1 World Championship has already been decided a total of twelve times in Monza, including in 1975 in favor of Niki Lauda. Since 1979 in favor of Jody Scheckter no more.

Technically, Monza is a challenge for both the racing team and the drivers. 77 percent of each lap in the Autodromo must be driven at full throttle. This means maximum performance for driver and engine.

The atmosphere in Monza is simply indescribable. Add to that the Italian flair in bars and restaurants away from the racetrack. Don't miss this event in September. Look forward to a few nice days in the south and fly to Monza with BLISSAIR.
