Travelling with dogs or cats to Great Britain

BlissAir has been able to fly dogs safe and stress-free to the UK eight times this year so far. Not always such a flight for the animals and their owners is a simple matter. But we try to make sure that your trip with dogs or cats is as pleasant as possible for both sides. The advantage in comparison to a scheduled flight is first and foremost that the animal can stay with their owners in the cabin and so the "fear of flying" can be reduced.

We support you with all the necessary precautions that must be taken to travel with your dog to the United Kingdom, as long as the required travel documents are up-to-date.

Without quarantine, cats, dogs and even ferrets may travel under the PETS (Pet Travel Scheme) cruise program if they comply with the regulations.

The following UK airports that BlissAir is allowed to fly to offer pet clearance:

Blackpool

Cambridge

Doncaster

Leeds Bradford International

London Biggin Hill

London Oxford

London Stansted

London Heathrow

Manchester

Until the year 2000, strict quarantine regulations prevailed. Since the repeal or relaxation of these rules, it has become much easier to travel with a pet to the UK. Nevertheless, one must not forget that certain aspects have to be taken into account in order not to experience a nasty surprise in situ.

The following documents are mandatory to enter the UK:

Microchip / tattoo (engraved before July 3, 2011) with corresponding identification number

A pet pass issued by the vet

A tapeworm treatment by the veterinarian must be carried out 1-5 days before entry and must be entered in the documents.

Rabies vaccination (at least 21 days before the trip)

No longer are ticks and blood tests needed. This facilitates the entry enormously, since these two tests or cures had to be carried out so far six months before.

Nevertheless, it is forbidden for some dog breeds to enter. Failure to comply with these terms may result in severe penalties. That's why you should stick to the list as a holder. In particular, this affects fierce dogs such as:

Dogo Argentino

Fila Brasileiro

Japanese Tosa

Pit Bull Terrier

Short-headed or blunt-nosed animals can quickly become short of breath in stressful situations. Although this is much lower for a private jet like BlissAir than for a regular airline, Lufthansa nevertheless recommends in its animal transport regulations:

"Dogs that belong to the blunt-nosed races are particularly temperature-sensitive. Therefore, we recommend that you refrain from bringing your dog if the temperature at the point of departure, transfer or arrival exceeds 27 ° C. Otherwise, your dog could suffer serious health damage or even die while traveling. "
